This webinar offers a focused introduction to Mini-KIDS, an evidence-based therapy approach for pre-school children who stutter, developed by Veerle Waelkens and grounded in the work of Dr. Phil Patricia Sandrieser and Peter Schneider.

Mini-KIDS stands out as a direct therapy approach, meaning that therapy works directly with the child on stuttering itself rather than relying solely on indirect environmental changes. The method provides a highly practical, hands-on framework that helps clinicians translate theory into concrete therapeutic action. Through play-based activities and active parent involvement, the therapist helps the child give words to their stuttering, develop the confidence and skills to dare to stutter, and ultimately learn to make talking easier — while simultaneously reducing pressure and supporting emotional resilience.

Across this 2-hour webinar, participants will explore the clinical rationale behind Mini-KIDS, indications for use, core therapeutic principles, and key elements of assessment and treatment. Clinical examples will illustrate how therapy is implemented in everyday practice.

As the official Mini-KIDS training is delivered as a three-day course, this webinar serves as an introduction — offering clinicians the opportunity to become familiar with the approach and consider further in-depth training.

Intended for speech and language therapists working with pre-school children who stutter or seeking structured, practical early-intervention approaches.
